Skyrim: Is Bethesda discriminating gay marriages in Italy?
Maybe the Italian version of Skyrim is discriminating gay marriages. Is this done on purpose or is it just a minor bug? Bethesda needs to take action cause this topic is growing bigger and bigger.
A female Italian Skyrim gamer has witnessed something that sounds offensive. She's raising two characters right now - a female Mage and a male Nightblade. Eventually her Nightblade chose Vilkas as the one he wants to marry. So since she lives in Italy the whole game is dubbed by Italian voice actors. Well done, Bethesda, she thought. But then something awful happened. During the gay wedding, the priest celebrated the Nightblade and Vilkas as "husband and wife".
Moreover, anytime she speaks with Vilkas, he replies by saying "Si, mia cara". In English it says "Yes, my darling". The problem is? Cara is a female noun! So something went horribly wring during the dubbing process. Maybe the voice actors didn't know about the gay wedding or Bethesda has not alerted them. Or is it done on purpose because gay marriages are not allowed in Italy? By now Bethesda always stood still against any sexual discrimination - but what about now? Let's wait and see what happens. Here's the original thread in the official Skyrim forums.
